Individuals are no longer branded by the race or ethnic group they are born into. The style which we choose, the clothes we buy, the accessories we wear, they define what we call our "new race". Everything about us is chosen, and we no longer need to be labeled by traditional stereotypes. Be who you want to be. Your style is your race. Racism is out of fashion.
Individuals are no longer branded by the race or ethnic group they are born into. Seriously, dude? Tell that to the cops that pull me over about once a week, for no reason, but check to see if my car is stolen, or I have outstanding warrants for my arrest, then tell me, "Sorry, sir, I thought I didn't see you wearing your seatbelt". Tell that to the law firms or investment houses who don't hire me, by telling my they didn't think their clients would be "comfortable" with me. Tell that to the car of white guys driving down the street, who threw a beer at my mother and called her "n*****". Tell that to the customs officers who always pull me over for supplemental screening, upon returning to the country, then tell me it was just "random". I could go on, ad infinitum, but you get my point. It doesn't matter what style of clothes I wear, my Black skin is the main identifier. Besides, I look at all my white friends from college. They wore ripped hemp pants and tie-dyed shirts, put their hair in dreadlocks and the women refused to shave their legs or pits. Once they graduated they put on the suits and shaved their legs. Meanwhile, I'm still Black and no amount of fashionable clothing is changing that fact any time soon.
