The Zamimpilo Arts and Craft Market, Kwa Zulu Natal consists of 164 women who make a living by selling Arts and Crafts, produced in a symbiotic relationship with the environment. They make their living by harvesting the wetlands of Kwa Zulu Natal. The clay for their pottery, the grass for their bags and matts, the dye - obtained by boiling leaves from indigenous trees - are all natural products from the Wetlands.

The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development in Kwa Zulu Natal equipped the women with the knowledge to harvest and maintain the the Wetlands in a sustainable way.

The products are made with hours of human dedication, yet you can buy items for as cheap as $10. No toxic factories. Virtually zero carbon emissions in manufacturing. All hand made.

We believe that there are sound reasons to develop trade with these communities. The products are endowed with and embedded in humanity, there are no clinical molds, no creepy mechanistic robots, virtually the only carbon emissions are from breathing:)

This is a creative way of making money and the items they create are really nice, I would like to have some of them. I can see that they put a lot of work in it. I like the wooden masks a lot, I have seen similar ones when I was browsing some free classified ads some time ago and I wanted to buy a couple but I don't know why I changed my mind.
