Use multimedia to inspire motivation in your students
Are you are looking for an original project to motivate at risk students? Défi InteraXion can help you! This initiative of CyberCap is a project for primary and high school students between the ages of 10 and 25 who attend full time public school programs. The Défi offers students experiencing difficulties at school or at risk of dropping out the possibility to discover the world of multimedia.  The idea is to find a new source motivation so as to carry on at school.
 
Showcase your community!
The 7th edition of the Défi asks participants to create a digital production based on the theme Showcase your community! The students are invited to introduce an inspirational community citizen, a special organization or association, or an intriguing aspect of their neighbourhood! A theme chart will be available soon with more information about this year’s theme and context.
 
All participants who complete their production will receive a certificate of merit as a reward for their efforts during the Recognition Award Ceremony at the end of the Défi. It is also during this event that over 12 000 $ in prizes will be presented to the finalists, the winners, and the supporting team coordinators.
 
This challenge offers the opportunity to get involved in a project that runs throughout much of the school year and that allows students to create and live personal success. Furthermore, multimedia is a wonderful method of motivating students because it stimulates the participants’ imaginations and enables them to discover new communication tools.
 
This project is developed as an open framework concept. All kinds of styles, serious or humoristic, are welcomed. The team coordinator has the choice of either using Défi as a pedagogic classroom tool or as an extracurricular activity.
 
To make the task easier for team coordinators (teachers, school counselors or community workers) a tool kit is available as a starting point. This kit contains a list of useful and free software as well as tutorials created by CyberCap. In addition, the coordinator of Défi InteraXion is available to answer questions for all enrolled team coordinators.
