BFC Buzz - Spring 2009

I know, I know, it’s already summer, so here’s a recap of what’s been happening with the BFC and what’s next.

**Buy "Home Free", support the BFC!**

It’s finally here!! The Burundi Film Center is pleased to announce that Home Free (version français: Enfin, chez nous) is now available to order on DVD! Purchases of the film can be made through the BFC website. All proceeds for the film will go towards the BFC project.  To order your copy, click here.

BFC participates in World Refugee Day

Saturday, June 20 is World Refugee Day and the Burundi Film Center is proud to be participating in a number of screenings leading up to this event. Screenings have already happened in Ottawa, Quebec City and Toronto. For a list of where Home Free is playing, click here.

Spotlight on: Cynthia Niyonsaba

Congratulations Cynthia!  Out of hundreds of applications, BFC alumnus Cynthia Niyonsaba (Bigger Plans) was selected to attend the Talent Campus Durban in South Africa.  She will be the first and only Burundian to receive this exclusive film training with participants from all across Africa. What’s Next?

A Canadian educational distributor has expressed interest to partner with the BFC and make Home Free available to libraries and schools across North America. And as always, we are also searching for teachers and ways to hold new training sessions in Burundi. To get involved, please contact us.

Thank you for your continued interest and please keep spreading the word about the project so we can continue our work in the future.
