Narratives of Dignity

Parents in Action for Education youth
The Narratives of Dignity describe what is often not acknowledged: young people's school-related experiences as they themselves perceive them. Each in their own way, fourteen youngsters talk to us about love, identity, language, culture, education, their relationships with adults. They find the words to express what is necessary for them to grow in dignity. An honest look at youngsters and adults that can initiate a dialogue on values, rights and ways of doing things in schools.
The Narratives of Dignity inspired a group of students to produce a film about rights within the school setting. The Narratives of Dignity continue to sustain Parents in action for education in the development of the Declaration for equality in education. Scheduled for release in 2009.
The Narratives of Dignity were created under the guidance of Lilyane Rachédi, of the UQAM School of Social Work, and of Yinka Ibukun, of the Third Avenue Resource Centre.
